The purpose of this course, already in his seventh edition, is to present an update of the knowledge and the techniques in the field, more and more complex, of the joint reconstructions.
Solutions to problems that can darken the results of arthroplasties are discussed: loosening of prosthetic components, wear of friction materials ... New methods of fixation with special metallic coatings, and renewed friction materials will be considered. Also, studies of the difficulties created by bone losses, in the revision surgery, and the use of bone or its substitutes, porous metals, factors that stimulate the bony formation, etc.
All the professors have contrasted knowledge and experience and I hope that through the discussions they clarify the different subjects and queries.
I hope that this course will fulfill its mission of Continued Medical Education and that it will help us to progress as doctor and surgeons.
Lastly, I want to thank to the teaching Faculty, to my collaborators and to the industry for their inestimable aid.
